Kings Of Leon to release new album

Kings of Leon are set to start work on a new album as soon as they can.

The band said they hope to get work on the follow up to this year's 'Because Of The Times' soon, and it may sound like a Wham record.

Caleb Followill said: "Because of the thrill of being number one, I think the songs we're writing now just really have something about them. Its a passion that I think will carry on. This is gonna be like a Wham record."

He added that he hoped the band would hit the studio early next year. Followill said: "We end the tour January 13th, my birthday is January 14th and hopefully we'll be in the studio by Valentine's Day to start the next one.

"We try to strike while the iron's hot, and we're writing some really good songs right now."

He told XFM: "The success of the record has been a big shock to us. But because of that things are happening at different times in different territories.

"We just had a Number One in Ireland which we've not had before, so no, we're not finished with this album cycle just yet."
Jack Penate and The Strokes come together

Jack Penate featured at the debut of former Test Icicles member Dev Hynes' solo project Lightspeed Champion in London tonight (July 19).

Penate joined the band for a cover of the John Martyn's classic 'Over The Hill' introduced as a "special guest."

The star studded show was the debut London solo gig by the former grot rocker and also featured The Horrors singer Faris Rotter.

The singer featured on the track 'I Could Have Done This Myself', the band was augmented by support act Emmy The Great on violin and backing vocals.

Before the track 'No Surprise' he said: "It's not about incest but it is for my mum."

The band ended with a performance of a version of The Strokes 'New York City Cops'

Hynes told the audience: "Thanks so much for coming it means so much to me."
